Question number 1: We had the chance but Rumsfeld didn't want to risk it
(Stupid decision). Question number 2: Worst US Foreign Policy decision in our history. Question number 3: The country is divided on that question (I'll keep mine opinion to myself). Question number 4: Good question.
Question number 5: several contracting officers were convicted. Many American defense contractors overcharged for projects as well as items (i.e. $99 for one bag of a soldiers laundry; overcharging the US government for fuel; no-bid awards; etc.).

I read a lot and try to be informed on world affairs. By digging into the characters, their backgrounds and their conflicts when confronted in scenes motivates me to continue to move on. Research is key for the type of fiction I write. I also attend writers' group functions, lectures and symposiums.

In 2008 I came up with the idea of having a highly intelligent Special Operations Forces Officer who was part of the Tier-1 Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC) in Afghanistan during the beginning of our occupation (2002) who exemplified integrity, courage, mental toughness, emotional intelligence, leadership, compassion and results-oriented task force mission focus and place him in a very difficult position: He is ordered to kill his Afghan translator by Colonel Shane Dawkins via satphone. Betrayal, corruption, conspiracy and murder are the major themes of my novel.
