Stella Maclean I have reason to believe that I was adopted, but it was kept a secret because of who the father was.

Stella Maclean Dear Cc, You are right in so many ways. This is a very weak man, and selfish, and his wife is obsessed with having a baby. And if this situation was mine, in my life, I would have behaved differently than she did. But I wanted to show that for some women, and I've know a couple of women in this situation, they are caught between loving someone not worthy of them, while falling in love with a little girl. This story, for me, was about the love this woman felt for this child despite the circumstances around the event. If I were to write the sequel it would be that she leaves and takes the child with her. And the story would be about how she survives and thrives in proving that she is the better parent, and thus should have custody of the Emma.
Stella Maclean I would go to Alice in Wonderland's world, settle in with a big pot of tea and watch all the shenanigans playing out before my comfortable seat.
Stella Maclean Drake Sanders huddled against the frozen shoreline, waiting, barely breathing as if somehow holding his breath would stop the slow march of the one eyed monster moving toward where he hid. The monster stopped, reared its head, snorted, a harsh terrifying sound, leaving the ground trembling under his broad hair shrouded claws.

Stella Maclean I hate to admit this but I don't have writer's block. I feel a little embarrassed as so many authors I know are devastated when they feel blocked. One of the things I think that help me not to be blocked is that I write my novels from detailed outlines, which means that if I'm stuck at some point in the story I can go to another part and just write whatever comes into my head.
Most of the time I can't type fast enough to get all the words in my head down on the page.
Stella Maclean Wow! Great question! I guess I'd have to say it's the chance to explore all the characters and stories that are in your head and heart. Some of those stories won't translate very well to the written page, and others will.
But the most important thing is to let your imagination be your guide and see what is possible.
Stella Maclean I know this sounds self-evident, but to put it simply--write the book, fill the pages. Good writing and the drive to succeed as an author are all about pounding the keys at least four hours a day. As Norah Roberts once said, "The only thing you can't fix is a blank page."
I couldn't agree more. But the real secret here is that the more you write the easier it is to write. Maybe it's the '10,000' rule, meaning that you need to do 10,000 hours, or words or some measure of production before you become truly proficient. Whatever it is, the more you write, the more the words and the story simply flow.
Stella Maclean I'm working on the outline for another Harlequin Superromance book about a single mother trying to be a good parent, and the frightening discovery she makes about her daughter.
Stella Maclean I don't know the answer to that question. I've always wanted to write, and have been blessed with the time and opportunity to pursue my writing. My inspiration comes from watching people, imaging what their day-to-day lives are about. Who they love. What they care about.
Stella Maclean When I met my husband Garry it was love at first sight. When I lost him to ALS I decided to write about those feelings of love, that instant connection, only this time I wrote it in the hero's point of view.
