I had to think about this one a bit. My grandparents (mother's parents) who are both deceased now grew up in the early part of the 20th century, my grandfather in western Pennsylvania and my grandmother in Trenton, NJ. I spent a lot of time with them when i was younger and we always thought my grandmother was younger than my grandfather. It wasn't until after her death that we learned she was actually several years older. I think the story of their courtship, what they did to stay together, hide their age and why might make an interesting piece.

That's easy- F. Scott Fitzgerald's Jay Gatsby and Daisy Buchanan. I love the sexy and sophisticated relationship between those two, set against the backdrop of the Roaring 20's and Jazz Age.

Currently, I am working on my second novel, tentatively titled "Because I Had To". After finishing CARD GAME, I felt that the Jess character had more of a story to tell, so I decided to pick up a year after CARD GAME ends. Jess has moved a thousand miles away to Florida and is almost completely alienated from her Mom, with whom she has always had a tenuous and complicated relationship. At the same time, JB, the divorce lawyer from CARD GAME, has continued his search for fulfillment in the wake of his friend's death a year earlier. Written from dual points of view, BECAUSE I HAD TO follows JB plumbing the meaning of family amid wrecked families, while Jess struggles to find her biological parents.

I think a lot of folks write "in order". In other words, they have to finish one part before they go to the next. For my first book and now the second that is in the works, I have a story board of sorts and pieces of the story that I know go into certain places. If I get stuck on one piece of the story, I look at my board and start working on another part.
