D.K. Hamilton When I really started to get serious about writing, I found some great advice thanks to a Twitter graphic I stumbled upon. It said, "write about what you know." It's so simple, but so true. I grew up at the Jersey Shore. It's what I know so that's where set The Other Side of Later. So many of the places are based off of places from my everyday surroundings.

As for the concept of the book, it was definitely one of those "ah ha" moments. I was running one afternoon in the summer and passed an old classmate. We didn't exchange words, but it gave me the idea of how Julia and Drew would cross paths 10 years after high school graduation. The rest of the plot came from idea after idea compounding on one another until the pieces of the story came together.
