It's kind of a long story, with the short answer of, "why not?!" to the long answer of, "I sure hope this works..."
#Waiting4Paint2Dry is my debut novel. My book baby. And back when it was originally published back in 2015, this little book that could did it all. However, once a book ends readers want the NEXT book NOW!
And since there was no next book - until now - a certain number of reviewers withheld a star because the sequel wasn't out yet!
Holding review stars hostage... Talk about a strong reader demographic!
So, fast forward to now -- the sequel is out, and available for pre-order. Only, how do I tie the two together (cover art wise) and get the word out to all those readers from way back when...
Answer? Release a new, special second edition of WAITING FOR PAINT TO DRY to help promote its sequel, PAINT BY NUMBERS!
So, there you have it. It's all about reaching a wider reader base with each new book written.

If I can meet up with a writer buddy, I do any chance I get! Why? Writing can be pretty lonely sometimes, so anyone who wants to meet up at a local writing spot, DM me anytime!
When at home, I have THE BEST home office, complete with a teal velvet seat, huge monitor next to an even bigger window. And a cat.
Always have to have one of those ;)

I absolutely LOVE researching for my stories. For my next book, I'll be traveling out to Colorado as the book is set in Golden, CO.
As far as how long do I research? Depends. For PAINT BY NUMBERS, that was the sequel to WAITING FOR PAINT TO DRY, so the characters and setting were basically done for me.
But for the Colorado book, I've been researching that book for close to a year now, as I really want to make this book shine in terms of being true to life.
And since I like to research for my books this long, I simultaneously write one book while I research the next.

Currently, I am working on getting pre-orders up and running for the Special 2nd Edition of WAITING FOR PAINT TO DRY!
Following that, is the publication of the sequel, PAINT BY NUMBERS!
Once I get these up and running, I'll be working on an all new story which is set in Colorado and follows the healing journey of a mother effected by SUDC, Sudden Unexpected Death in Children.

As to why a sequel, when I wrapped up the first book with a nice little bow? I did not want to write a sequel, however my READERS DEMANDED I do... seriously! Some even withheld a 'star' in their review until I do (if you don't believe me, read my AMAZON REVIEWS!)
So, the sequel, which is titled PAINT BY NUMBERS and is coming out August 6, 2022... it's the obvious continuation of the story started in WAITING FOR PAINT TO DRY, however this time, it's the story of Matty's sister, El.
* Matty's story = WAITING FOR PAINT TO DRY (book 1)
* El's story = PAINT BY NUMBERS (book 2)
Okay! Are you happy now?! I wrote a sequel, just for you ;)

I'm an activist at heart - and a hopeless romantic. So you add the two together, and BAM! Life surprises you with constant 'what if?' moments that just make me stop and think... and that's when ideas start flooding in. Most play out like a movie in my mind, from start to finish. Of course there's still the need to flesh out all the moving parts, but the heart of the story always comes to me in a flash and it sticks with me to the point that I can't shake it. So I have to write.
