Hi Felix, when I got your message I was just 'finding my feet' in Goodreads and wasn't sure about responding to every contact. Anyway, Edinburgh is fine - with the new excitement of a 20mph limit in many streets. This is causing various melt-downs with naturally impatient people, who haven't yet worked out that getting to the next red traffic light before everyone else is not any faster than those that just cruise along. I'm currently reviewing within "Genre Specific Review Groups" - they seem like a nice bunch. Regarding your 'free copy' approach - how has that been going? Have you drummed up any reviews or sales increase? I'm probably in the same boat as you, trying to get some traction and exposure, so any useful hints would be appreciated. Cheers, Alistair.

Though I resolved the story for the novel in Bort's People, I left one of my characters, Lofti the Dunnit Sprite, hanging at the end of the book. Almost immediately another story started to suggest itself, to give him a bit of closure.

I like telling stories, so I do it for the enjoyment of sending my characters on a journey I'd like to share with others.

I've just finished an SF novel - Perax Frontier, and unless my 'Beta Readers' come up with any plot issues, I'm in the very last stage before publication. Catch an excerpt on my website - alipotter.co.uk

Stick [ ] brackets in the text with 'helpful comments' like [needs work] or [fill-in this bit] or [weak] etc. Then move forward to a scene I can visualise, or want to write, and get that written. Approaching the end of the novel, I can back-track through the text using a simple search on [ or ] and find the bits I missed or need to work on. Eventually, after visiting a section enough times, I can usually get rid of the brackets.
