I think that the best way to write something great is to read something great.
That or I'll reward myself with a cookie after I've written a page.
Sometimes I'll reward myself with a cookie after I've written a paragraph.
Or a sentence.
I've just eaten 8 cookies.
I forget what the question was.

Ooof, you know what? I don't feel that I am successful as a writer. But I think that's part of what keeps me going. Most writers don't think they're doing things right - and I suspect that's the motivation.

Oooh, tough to say, but maybe the lifetime of self-doubt?

It sounds really trite, but I just start typing. Even if it makes no sense. Even if the words I'm typing say something like, "I do not know what the hell I am doing. I can't think of anything to write. This sucks." I just keep forcing myself to write. Even if it doesn't make any sense. Because eventually, it will.

Keep writing. I can't stress this enough. No matter what happens, no matter if it ties to your day job or not, even if it's a journal or a letter to a friend - KEEP WRITING. The second you stop, well ... you've stopped.

I don't - I wrote my book in Google Docs (no, for real) and then all the editing from my publisher happened in MS Word. I've heard great things about Scrivener, though, from many writer friends.

Yes. Sort of. I mean, I NEED to be working on it but I've been slacking a bit. I don't want to talk about it too much, but it will be a personal experiment type book, like Gretchen Rubin's The Happiness Project.

Hi Sana,
I'm still ironing out the details on my tour, but I've had a lot of requests to visit SF, so I'm hoping that my publisher will make that happen. My blog traffic fluctuates, esp since I haven't blogged in a while, but it tends to be between 200k - 600k a month. Hope that helps!
