Geraldine DeRuiter is founder of The Everywhereist blog, which TIME magazine described as "consistently clever" (note: Geraldine brings this up a lot. Even when it's not pertinent to the conversation). While ostensibly a travel writer, she also writes extensively about desserts she's enjoyed as well as Jeff Goldblum's entire filmography. Rather miraculously, her work has also garnered the attention of FORBES Magazine, which listed her blog as one of its Top 10 Lifestyle Websites for Women for 3 consecutive years, and THE INDEPENDENT, who included her on their list of 50 Best Travel Websites. (So, you know, that TIME thing was not just a fluke or a result of the editorial team getting drunk.)

Hi Sana,

I'm still ironing out the details on my tour, but I've had a lot of requests to visit SF, so I'm hoping that my publisher will make that happen. My blog traffic fluctuates, esp since I haven't blogged in a while, but it tends to be between 200k - 600k a month. Hope that helps! (less)

It’s March. Here’s My Review of Some Christmas Candy I Found At the Goodwill.

It is March. I am standing in my kitchen in my PJs, eating Christmas candy that I purchased from the Goodwill.

To be clear, it was not my intention to be eating yuletide-themed confections on the precipice of spring, like Miss Havisham, but for snacks. It’s just that sometimes in life we find ourselves in places we never expected. A police holding cell. Tottering on the brink of totalitarianism. Fl

“What matters is that you find the right person with whom to spend your time on this earth. Someone who will take care of you when you are sick. Who will love you and the extra hole in your head. Who will drive for hours while you sleep in the passenger seat. Someone who will show you how immense the universe is and still make you feel that you are the brightest thing in the sky.”
Geraldine DeRuiter, All Over the Place: Adventures in Travel, True Love, and Petty Theft

“Don’t Blame Me, I Voted for Titties.”
Geraldine DeRuiter, If You Can't Take the Heat: Tales of Food, Feminism, and Fury

“It was the mid-1990s. We were told that “no means no,” but no one told us what happened after that. No one told me that “no” would just be perceived as a starting point in a negotiation.”
Geraldine DeRuiter, If You Can't Take the Heat: Tales of Food, Feminism, and Fury
