A.J. Griffiths-Jones My great-great grandfather’s disappearance would be a brilliant mystery to write about.
A.J. Griffiths-Jones Probably Wonderland, I love the idea of a constant tea party & would try my best to cuddle the Cheshire Cat
A.J. Griffiths-Jones Mystery Island by Jim Ody , Poppy Factory by Liz Trenow and The Romanovs by Simon Sebag Montefiore
A.J. Griffiths-Jones As the creaking wooden lid slipped back, I gulped in the acrid air and adjusted my eyes to the darkness of the freezing night above me. Only then did it register that the undead beings who had rescued me from the underground coffin were the ones whom I should fear the most.
A.J. Griffiths-Jones Hello. Great question. 'Prisoner 4374' is based upon ten years of research into the life of Dr. Cream who was a Ripper suspect.
The work contains copies of genuine documents which I extracted for various institutions & also from his Joilet prison file, which had lain unopened for over a century.
Although the book is written in an autobiographical manner, it contains true facts & real events. I chose to write it in this way in order to portray Cream's mental state at the time. Hope this helps. A.J.
A.J. Griffiths-Jones Hi Mark, unfortunately it isn't. The museum inside Scotland Yard is known as the 'Black Museum' & has been opened to just a few celebrities, researchers & members of the Royal family. I was invited to be guest speaker at Scotland Yard & luckily was allowed entry to see the artifacts last year, which includes Dr. Cream's medicine bag.
A.J. Griffiths-Jones I love the Buntings in 'The Lodger'. They're a middle-aged, settled couple who walk the fine line between tolerating each other & loving each other. They have very different views on life and plod along, Mr. Bunting absorbing the daily newspapers & taking occasional jobs, while Ellen fulfills her role as wife & housekeeper. At the end of the book, the couple realise that they both had the same suspicions about their lodger, but in their own quiet ways, let it pass.
A.J. Griffiths-Jones Thank you for the question Alan. The sequel to 'Prisoner 4374' will be all about revealing 'R'. I am currently waiting to access some very important documents which will give vital information about his life. I did indeed find out about 'R' while researching Dr.Cream. As I carefully plotted the places & dates that Cream was in London, it all came together. Thank you for reading my book & also for the great review. A.J.
A.J. Griffiths-Jones I write two books at the same time, alternating between them. So, if one day my historical book isn't forthcoming, I can switch to my novel which might be more productive, depending on my mind at the time.
A.J. Griffiths-Jones Being able to absorb yourself in the world of your work. To live & breath the characters which you create & to dictate your own working hours.
A.J. Griffiths-Jones If at first you don't succeed, try a different genre, or try writing in a different style. My first book was intended to be in a purely historical format but since I changed it to be 'autobiographical' with Cream telling his own story, it became a much better book.
A.J. Griffiths-Jones A sequel to 'Prisoner 4374' which I am currently researching. I am also writing a series of novels, the first of which is set in 1950's England.
A.J. Griffiths-Jones I like solving mysteries but also take inspiration from the people I meet and the places I visit.
A.J. Griffiths-Jones Dr.Cream has been listed as a Jack the Ripper suspect for over a century. I decided to tackle his eligibility by accessing his prison files & recreating the events of his life.
