Learn from talented, successful writers. I've loved watching Bryan Davis' videos on writing. You can find them for free on YouTube. This year I submitted different versions of a chapter or so to David Farland (Dave Wolverton) and received feedback.
Also, use beta readers to give you feedback. This is so important. And don't try to justify your writing to them. Of course, you have to decide whether or not to act on the feedback. If you get the same feedback from more than one person, it might be something you really should fix.

Right now I'm working on promoting my book, Working With The Enemy, but I think what the question is really asking, is "what book (or perhaps writing project) am I working on?" My next big fiction project will be the follow up book to Working with the Enemy. I've got some general ideas for it but need to focus on research/learning. That's one of the fun aspects of writing--the research! I may also repurpose some non-fiction that my wife and I wrote.
