Jalena Dunphy Being a writer is like having a super power; you get to live as many lives as your mind can think of. You get to think outside your box, outside your own reality. When I first start writing, the main character always starts out saying and doing things I would say and do, it's not until a chapter or so into the book that the character takes on her own identity and through that identity I say and do what she wants said and done. Every character starts out with a little piece of me, but by the end I carry little pieces of them inside me and in their own way they change me.
Jalena Dunphy I don't. I have yet to figure out how to fight that beast! The best thing I've come up with so far is my slinky, although sometimes I find I get so preoccupied moving it from one hand to the other I forget why I started playing with it in the first place . . . and I still have writer's block! I'm all ears if anyone has suggestions.
Jalena Dunphy I'm currently working on another New Adult/College Romance book. I haven't gotten too far into this one, but it seems to be taking an even more emotional twist than Stolen did.
Jalena Dunphy The inspiration for my books comes from my nightmares, actually. Ever since I was a kid I've had terrible nightmares, but it wasn't until recently that I was nudged by my family to use those dreams as inspiration for writing. I must admit it has been better than therapy in helping with some of my more intense dreams.
