Ascension was literally meant to be a short story to keep Darkest Nights readers satisfied until I finish Ashes to Ashes (which is currently having a complete re-write). Since the whole of the series has already been thought out I figured I would treat it as a small side story (kind of like Rogue One to Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope) where the details of the events of the story would be mentioned in passing in a future book but it just kept expanding until it ended up being a full fledged novel.

I'm pretty much in a constant state of wanting to write. Sure, I have my off days but other than that I never really need to be inspired. I have quite a few stories I want to write so I guess that helps keep me motivated.

I'm currently working on another Darkest Nights sequel, Ashes to Ashes, along with a science-fantasy series, and a sci-fi series. I've finished a horror novel that I'm planning on releasing next year.

I haven't really had to deal with it. I have days where I don't feel like writing but I've never had any problem with ideas- if anything I have too many.
