Chris Cloake Thank you for such a lovely message. I am busy putting the trilogy together as a boxset. After that, from late February, the slate is clear. Still debating whether to write more fantasy, go back to my original subjects (human loss/gain), or do something in a new area.

As a writer yourself, how have you approached this? Any suggestions?
Chris Cloake I feel a need to express emotion. If I can take a reader into a story where they care and get involved with the characters, then I'm getting it right.

I absorb lots of different ideas from the world around me, especially nature. I am moved by music, other writers and meaningful films. All this goes into the melting pot and I have loads of fun creating a plausible tale.
Chris Cloake I would go to Middle Earth, Hobbiton in particular, and buy myself a house on the edge of the village. Then once in a while I'd set off on a journey to see other parts, always returning home to my fireside, where I'd write all about my adventures.
Chris Cloake Life Happens by Caroline Reber
Pride & Prejudice by Jane Austen
Something from the library when I go browsing

Which reminds me - Great Expectations by Charles Dickens
Chris Cloake Friendships that end for no reason.
Chris Cloake My favourite fictional couple is Catherine and Heathcliff from Wuthering Heights. I like that tragic link they share, full of imperfections and fatal flaws. They are destined to be together and achieve this even in death, despite having very little happy time in adult life. They seem to me to be real and yet unreal. Perfect fiction.
Chris Cloake I tried to use some of my own experiences so that I could achieve more authenticity in my writing. I included bits of other people's as well, especially the homeless parts, from contact I had when I worked in this sector.
Chris Cloake From a true story I read about a rich lady many centuries ago and the different men she married that either enriched or ruined her life
Chris Cloake Music, poetry, other people's stories, random things I encounter on any day. Oh, and a good look at the stars whenever you can.
Chris Cloake My next novel, quite different from my first. It's a story about an entire lifetime past entwined with a lifetime in the present.
Chris Cloake Write, write and then write some more.
Chris Cloake The release of emtions
Chris Cloake Listen to a lot of music, mainly the inspirational artists like Kate Bush, Gemma Hayes, The Beatles and Nick Drake as well anything classical. Get into the stories and meanings behind the songs and a whole host of thoughts kick start in your brain.
