Chris Cloake was born in 1964 and began telling stories a couple of years later. He grew up in Kent, England. He is motivated to write by a deep interest in life, particularly the cruel, deeply flawed nature of people contrasted with their incredible creativity and inspiration. The power of the natural world is a common theme in his work as a writer and professional photographer. He lives happily with his wife, two children and a large collection of music, books and board games.

Still debating whether to write more fantasy, go back to my original subjects (human loss/gain), or do something in a new area.

As a writer yourself, how have you approached this? Any suggestions?(less)

Agnes Grey Agnes Grey by Anne Brontë

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I was completely engaged in this story. I found it educational and moving. The narrative feels a little detached but this fits in perfectly with how I imagine the character to be in difficult times for a woman needing gainful employment.

I'm fascinated by the Bronte's story, their tragically short lives and the dynamics of the relationships betwee Read more of this blog post »

Nina LaCour
“We love films because they makes us feel something. They speak to our desires, which are never small. They allow us to escape and to dream and to gaze into the eyes that are impossibly beautiful and huge. They fill us with longing. But also. They tell us to remember; they remind us of life. Remember, they say, how much it hurts to have your heart broken.”
Nina LaCour, Everything Leads to You

“Good friends, good books, and a sleepy conscience: this is the ideal life.”
