Leod D. Fitz I'm in the middle of another project at the moment, but I do have plans for book five and about half of the rough draft written. It's on the agenda, but I'm not sure exactly how long it will be before I'm able to put it out. Thank you so much for asking!
Leod D. Fitz Great question. I actually just did the second to last review of it the other day. I'm going to be working on the cover art for a bit, then I'll read it through one more time, and move on to formatting it. I expect it to be out before the end of the year, hopefully sometime next month!
Leod D. Fitz Yes, there will be. I am currently working on a collection of short stories about Walter, and after that I have a book in a different series that I need to get finished, but I plan to start on book 4, Delicious Detritus, after that.
Leod D. Fitz I'd have to go with the world of Ready Player One. I mean, the 'real world' in that book is horrible, but the virtual reality world they describe is basically one where you can skip between various kinds of realities, some based on books or movies or games of the past, some made just for fun... it's like living in a library, but being able to jump into any of the books anytime you want.
Leod D. Fitz "I don't understand," she whispered, "You seem so normal."

"That's the thing people like you can't seem to process," he replied, as he lowered the knife, "When you have the devil in your heart, you don't need to wear him on your sleeve."

Slaughterhouse Five
Leod D. Fitz The mystery of why all of my clothes mysteriously become several sizes smaller after I purchase them. I am convinced that a secret cabal sneaks into my house at night and replaces all of my clothing with shrunken copies. To what nefarious end? I do not know.
Leod D. Fitz Hello Mary! First off, thank you for reading my book, I hope you continue to enjoy it!

There were a number of things that fed into this book, but I think that my most immediate issue was that I was getting tired of cuddly werewolves and noble vampires. That isn't to say that I don't ever like reading about those, but it seemed like every book I picked up was filled with beautiful, noble, caring creatures of the night. I wanted to put some fear back into the night. I wanted a world filled with monsters who were ugly, selfish, and frankly, a little bit disgusting. I didn't want to turn it into a horror, but I thought it would be fun to have a world with a bit more grit in it.

My first challenge was figuring out how to write a protagonist engaging enough to make the reader feel connected to him, but who also made you cringe from time to time.
Leod D. Fitz Writer's block comes in many different forms. Usually the best solution is to force myself to sit down in front of the computer and put words onto the page. Even if the words aren't the right ones. If you do that for a while you can usually push through whatever is in your way and get back to quality writing sooner or later. Then you just need to go back and fix the bad writing later. Other times I find that the best way to start writing again is to focus on reading. If I read good books for a couple of days, I often find inspiration in other people's work.
Leod D. Fitz Some days the act of writing is a struggle. Some days the act of writing is easy. And some days you have to force yourself to stop writing long enough to eat. When the story is flowing out of you so naturally and so perfectly that doing anything else feels like a chore... that's the best part about being a writer.
Leod D. Fitz If you think you can be happy doing anything else, do that and just write for fun. As much as I love writing, trying to make a living in the industry is incredibly frustrating.
Leod D. Fitz I'm actually working on book three of the corpse-eater saga. Book two is written, it just needs a good round of editing before it's ready to go.
Leod D. Fitz I find that a good walk is one of the most helpful things in getting my head in the right space to write.
Leod D. Fitz As is so often the case, identifying a single source for a particular book is basically impossible. I could give any number of true answers without covering everything involved. That being said, one of the things which inspired me to write Awfully Appetizing was the fluffification of the Gothic world. So often in books today werewolves are portrayed as giant cuddle monsters, and vampires are big old softies who want to be loved. While there's nothing strictly wrong with that, I missed the idea of creatures of the night who see humans as cattle.
