With Good Investigations, and the David Good PI series as a whole, I wanted to produce something that combined an element of the hard boiled with a healthy serving of humour and to have it set in London. Socially and economically, the 1980s were years of great change and, therefore, looked to provide plenty of opportunity for a writer. You'll also notice that the David Good books revolve very heavily around relationships, rather than being straightforward crime stories.

I don't suffer from writer's block. Whenever I find the words are not coming easily it is invariably because I am suffering from a lack of sleep and of course there is but one solution to that, so off to bed I go.

I'm usually keen, even desperate, to write at all hours of the day and night, which means I don't really need to seek inspiration to start committing words to paper. I'm also fortunate in that I invariably seem to have something I want to write about, even if it needs a good bit of re-working afterwards.
Writing can be extremely hard work, however it is above all else an absolute joy and pleasure. I love it.

I'm well into writing book six in my Banbury Cross Murder Mystery series, the title for which I'm keeping top secret at the moment! The story has an unusual setting that I'm sure readers will find highly entertaining because it not only brings something fresh to the table, it also has plenty of opportunities for humour, which is a key strand to these stories.
There's plenty of work to be completed before I'm done, though things are going really well and the new book will be out in early 2025. I've a feeling there could be some really entertaining marketing to accompany the launch, so keep your eyes peeled!
As well as the stories, I write entries for my own blog (see www.benwesterham.com) and other people's blogs every once in a while.
