As of right now, I think Ivy and Heather's story is finished, but I won't rule out revisiting Rowan's Glen. The backwoods have a lot of stories.

If I am having trouble moving forward with a story, I go back and read through what I've already written to see where I can pick up the voice and fervor again. It's easy to let writer's block hinder you, but you have to work through it if you ever want to finish a project.

Write every day. Even if it's in a journal, a blog post, or a poem. You have to keep your writing chops limber and be disciplined. Revision isn't a bad word--it means looking at your work with a different view from before, and you're going to do a lot of it, so get used to it. I also strongly recommend looking for an agent. Not only do they put your manuscript in front of the big publishing houses, they negotiate contracts, mediate disagreements that may arise between you and your publisher, and act as your best advocate. Do not settle for a mediocre agent just to have one. You deserve someone who will be passionate about your work always.

A lot of different elements conspired to form this book. Ozarks folklore is fascinating to me. I live near the Missouri Ozarks, so it's something I run into quite a bit. There are mountains, foothills, winding narrow roads through woods, and it can be an incredibly unsettling place, especially in the more remote areas where you have no easy way out and there's no one around.
In terms of the actual story, I wanted to touch on that age when you realize that you and are very closest friend are growing apart, that you can't keep going the way you always have because you've both changed, and the consequences of keeping secrets.
