Hi Steven, you are very welcome for the "like". Your review of 'Resurrection' sent me right to Amazon to find my own copy (thank you!) About Oregon, sounds like you know my beautiful state - have you been here? And, yes, the wild places here are a great source of inspiration. I frequently take my computer and head off to the Oregon coast or the mountains to write (it's deeply immersive). As for a favorite book - there are so many, it's impossible to choose, but Marilynne Robinson's 'Housekeeping' is one I find I read again and again. How about you - is there one book that stands out for you?

Hi Jack - I hope to start it next month. My desk is piled with books I've started that I need to finish first but I think Nabakov is an amazing writer and I'm eager to get to it. What will you read next?

Hi Jack,
I think what you are seeing are some books added because I've already read them some time ago and just haven't added them to my Goodreads shelves. I think I've finished 5 books this month. You seem to be reading and reviewing books at a phenomenal clip! I'm impressed. When you get a space on your "to be reviewed list" I'd love a review from you - and, of course, I'll do the same for you when your book comes out (I've been watching for it on Amazon).
Best,
Ginger

To write - not because you want to be a writer, but because you love to write.

Usually, I have a question, a feeling or a character I want to explore.

The inspiration for To Swim really came from an amalgam of ideas. I wondered what it would be like to have memories of experiences that were almost part of your DNA that nobody would believe (hence reincarnation). And for years I've been haunted by a small story I read in a newspaper about a little girl who froze to death on the front porch of the house where her family lived. The way I pictured her seemed not unlike photographs I'd seen of the mummy of the Inca boy left for sacrifice on Chile's Mt. Plomo more than 400 years ago (discovered in 1954).
