Catherine Cerveny Hi Geza. Sorry, I just saw this now or I would have replied sooner. I've lived in Peterborough all my life, except when I went away to school. Now I live just outside it, more or less in the country. Peterborough may be a city but it definitely has a small town feel to it. Thanks for the kind words and the encouragement. I appreciate it! Thanks, Catherine
Catherine Cerveny I wish I had some amazing and inspiring advice that would unlock the mysteries of the writing universe for everyone, but I don't. If I did, I would have used that advice for myself ages ago. All I can really say is: read a lot so you know what's out there, learn how to write a decent sentence, take some writing courses so you know how to slap a story together, and mostly importantly, don't give up. The last part might be the hardest because it's so easy to quit. You put all that work, effort, and time into your story and it seems like no one is interested (not even your mom, gasp!). Keep at it. You get better with practice. You know, 10,000 hours and you're an expert, etc., blah, blah, blah, and all that. Just keep trying and don't give up. If you want it bad enough, you'll eventually get there. I know it's clichéd, but it's also true.
Catherine Cerveny I think the best thing about being a writer is knowing that the stories I’ve been dreaming up in my head my whole life are finally out there for other people to enjoy. I love knowing that the stuff in my imagination now actually exists somewhere in the reall world. It's like a live butterfly release, but less icky.
Catherine Cerveny I'm currently working on the sequel to "The Rule of Luck" called "The Chaos of Luck". It's set about five months after the events of the first novel.
