Goodreads asked Catherine Cerveny:

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

Catherine Cerveny I wish I had some amazing and inspiring advice that would unlock the mysteries of the writing universe for everyone, but I don't. If I did, I would have used that advice for myself ages ago. All I can really say is: read a lot so you know what's out there, learn how to write a decent sentence, take some writing courses so you know how to slap a story together, and mostly importantly, don't give up. The last part might be the hardest because it's so easy to quit. You put all that work, effort, and time into your story and it seems like no one is interested (not even your mom, gasp!). Keep at it. You get better with practice. You know, 10,000 hours and you're an expert, etc., blah, blah, blah, and all that. Just keep trying and don't give up. If you want it bad enough, you'll eventually get there. I know it's clichéd, but it's also true.
