I'm currently working on a novel set near to where I live. It started out as another contemporary fiction book with a dark twist, but it's becoming more like a crime novel as the story develops. I've had to do a lot of research for this one, which has been fun. I've learnt a lot from writing it. I'm hoping it will be out around Spring/Summer 2016. I might put an excerpt on my blog before then if the writing is going well!

I wrote a short story for my MA that I really liked, but felt it had more to it, so I then started asking 'what if...' and that led me to see the character in a different way. From there, I wrote what I thought was the opening chapter. In the final draft, everything is shifted around and that chapter now appears towards the end. It made more sense that way. So yes, it all started with a short story that had legs.
