M.S. Murray The idea for my latest book wasn't really my own. K.M. Thompson came to me and was like 'I've got an idea for a book, want to write it with me?' and I was like 'yeah why the hell not!'. We spoke in length about what we wanted for the story with both of us flinging in ideas. So although the story isn't my idea it still has roughly half of my ideas in there.
M.S. Murray There isn't really one thing above all others that inspires me. I could get inspired by chalk or someone I meet or something I dreamed. I'm very versatile in getting inspiration.
M.S. Murray Right now I'm working on a secret Christmas book with the fabulous K.M. Thompson. I can't say too much about it yet. #SBCS
M.S. Murray Write. It sounds simple, but believe me I know it's not. If you've got an idea write it down. Don't feel pressured to write everyday though, just write when you can. It can take a month or ten years to write a book so don't feel like there's a rush to have it completed. I started off writing in my spare time as a hobby. In a year I had four chapters worth of story. Now I can write four chapters in one day. I don't do that everyday though, but since I dedicated my time as a full time author I've got more time to write. So my advice is just write, anywhere, anytime!!
M.S. Murray Hmmm. There are loads of great things about being a writer. My favourite thing would be creating the stories themselves. I love watching an idea grow. Its really an amazing journey. I get to take this small idea and turn it into a story, with characters that you love and characters you hate. I love how I can mould the idea in my imagination in any shape or form I want and take my characters anywhere, whether it be Ireland, outer space or to another dimension. Everyday is a new place, a new time or a new place. What's not to love about that?
M.S. Murray Honestly, there's not one particular way I deal with writers block. There are many. I tend to write more than one book at a time, so if I get a block, I start on another project. Taking a short break sometimes helps. Sitting down and listening to music helps clear my mind too, it helps me get back my flow. I really don't think I have a right way or wrong way to overcome writers block and I've never gotten to a point where I couldn't write anything for an extended period of time. It may happen one day when I cant write for weeks but for now my blocks are easily fixed.
