Brittney Coon That's a hard question. My favorite couple is Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy in Pride and Prejudice. I loved the chemistry of them and how they overcame the worst parts of their character and saw the good in each other. It's a classic romance that I believe has inspired millions of books.
Brittney Coon A summary of all three of Sydney's books? Book 1 is about summer break and how Sydney loves to party in Malibu. Book 2 is about being back in college in Arizona. Book 3 is the next summer in Malibu. The entire trilogy is about Sydney's growth as a character and romance adding in friendships and lessons along the way. I hope that answered your question. Thanks for asking!
Brittney Coon Hello! My publisher actually found me! I was part of #Pitchwars on Twitter and my publisher favorited my tweet. I queried them and they wanted my book. Thanks for asking!
Brittney Coon Read as many books as you can, especially in the genre you write in. Never compare yourself to others, it will depress you. I used to do that and think I'd never get published, but you need to be positive and as long as you love your book(s) so will everyone else, it just takes time. Write as much as you can. I try to write on nights I'm able to. College, work, and life likes to pull you away, try to find a happy medium. Find other writers to talk to. It's nice to have someone to relate to, but beware, some writers like to steal ideas. You must be careful who you talk to.Write what's in your heart, don't write something just because it's a popular topic. People's opinions can help shape your work, but you don't have to take them all, some you can ignore. After all, you are the only one who knows what's right for your book.
Brittney Coon I have a few work-in-progresses. Right now I'm giving my attention to the third book in Sydney's series and to my new horror novel.
Brittney Coon Everything inspires me. Music, concerts, movies, TV shows, people at the mall, personal memories, books, news stories, and so on. I get a spark from something and think about it. I ask myself a lot of "what if this happened" and the idea turns into a story. I write it down so I don't forget. If I truly love the idea I work on an outline and the first character. If I like it, but not in love, I write it down and leave it on the document I have all my ideas/summaries on. When I feel like writing something new I go there and reread all my ideas and pick the one that seems to pull my attention.
Brittney Coon The best thing about being a writer is putting all my thoughts into written form. I've always made things up and had to keep myself entertained being an only child. Now I pour all those ideas into books and share them with people. I love hearing feedback and knowing others love my characters as much as I do.
Brittney Coon My most recent book as of a few days ago is my first horror novel. The idea hit me when I was watching the premiere of American Horror Story: Hotel.
Brittney Coon I always have an outline from beginning to end for the books I'm writing. Sometimes characters go off the path and I have to rewrite the outline. If I ever get stuck I listen to music or stop writing for the night and resume the next night. As long as I have my laptop, outline, and music nothing stops me.
