Ahh, writer's block. Yes, there is such a thing. When I experience the inability to be creative, I walk my dogs or meditate. I compare it to a Bad Hair Day. Sometimes, there is nothing we can do about it. Evidently the Writing Gods are taking a break. Therefore, I take a break, too. After all, you can't force creativity. If the flow isn't there, it's just not going to happen. However, when the sweet writing energy comes back, I write until my fingers fall off.

The best thing about being a writer is knowing I can entertain my readers. When I read reviews or see that four and five stars have been given for my work, it is the best feeling in the world to know that I have caused my readers to smile, ponder, cry and cheer for the characters. Yes, writers have to take the good with the bad. Not everybody is going to like my work or my writing style, but those who do, make up for the small amount who don't. Besides, I can always learn from a bad review. It only gives me a reason to write better.

Don't give up. Writing is personal, and not everyone will accept your words on paper. However, if you don't begin and then finish, you will never know the thrill of having others read your work.

Currently, I am working on the third and final novel in the Secrets Series, Secret Signature.
At the reading of her mother's will, Kate finds herself being drawn back to her home of Seaside, NC to manage the Antique and gift shop her mother has left to her. Although Kate is a dental hygienist, she decides to follow the wishes of her mother. Entering the antique store for the first time in a long time, Kate is taken aback with the paintings hanging for sale on the exposed brick wall. She falls in love with the artist's ability to make the sea come alive with a brush stroke, and finds herself falling in love with the artist she has never met. Unbeknownst to Kate, the very artist she seeks has fallen in love with her.

For me, inspiration is a gift. Ideas flow from the energy around me, through my fingertips and onto my computer screen. I do not write an outline and follow that path. I am considered a pantser, meaning simply that I write by the seat of my pants, or I write what comes without planning. However, I will discuss the book, I am currently writing, with my husband over dinner and ideas often flow from that. Some people find themselves in the mood to bake, I happen to write.

My most recent book, Secrets Revealed, is a sequel to the first in the series, Secrets I've Been Keeping. One of the side characters, Laurel, needed her story told. She kept nudging me to go into more detail about her rape and eventually reveal who was responsible for the loss of her baby and her first love. I've been told that the book is powerful and and has the perfect ending.
