Easy! I've already done it. Prince Edward Island and Green Gables. I'd go again in a minute.

Roger (Cary Grant) and Julie (Irene Dunne) in the 1941 movie, Penny Serenade. Although Cary Grant received an Academy Award for his performance, I have always loved Irene Dunne's performance too. Roger changes most over the course of the story, so his is a dramatic "character arc." But Julie is sweet and practical and bears with Roger's foibles lovingly. And, of course, there's their great trial (I won't spoil it for anyone who hasn't seen it) -- Oh my, it's beautifully and believably portrayed. I've retained some of those images all these decades later, and still my heart aches and sings, as well.

Oh, my goodness, Rose! (Sounds like a line from a book :-) I'm terrible about checking messages on Goodreads. I'm so sorry I didn't see this until now. Thank you for your uplifting message. What an encourager you are. I hope we can meet somewhere ... sometime. Blessings on you. P.S. My first Christmas novella--A Christmas to Remember--is out. It picks up with Ella and Andrew three years into their marriage, so since you've read Ella's story in The Calling ... the novella won't be a spoiler for you. :-)

I try to refresh myself through a get-away--to the park or the treadmill or the Bible. Often new ideas pop up, and that alone lights a fire.

Writing is hard work--physically and emotionally. At times it just plain hurts. But wearing the title "writer" is nice. Comments about something I've written touching a heart is even nicer. But creating something that affects a soul is an awe-filled consideration.

I'm currently working on a second novel based on one of the characters in The Calling of Ella McFarland.

Since I write what I tag "inspirational romantic historical" fiction, I'm inspired by Bible meditation and research into the lives of yesteryear, especially those who reached beyond the ordinary to the extraordinary through dependence on God in the hard times.

The idea for The Calling of Ella McFarland was planted in my imagination as a child. My grandmother and mother loved telling about their lives in Indian Territory/Oklahoma.
