Goodreads asked Linda Brooks Davis:

Who is your favorite fictional couple, and why?

Linda Brooks Davis Roger (Cary Grant) and Julie (Irene Dunne) in the 1941 movie, Penny Serenade. Although Cary Grant received an Academy Award for his performance, I have always loved Irene Dunne's performance too. Roger changes most over the course of the story, so his is a dramatic "character arc." But Julie is sweet and practical and bears with Roger's foibles lovingly. And, of course, there's their great trial (I won't spoil it for anyone who hasn't seen it) -- Oh my, it's beautifully and believably portrayed. I've retained some of those images all these decades later, and still my heart aches and sings, as well.
