Luna Saint Claire In 2020, amongst many other good books, I read Lincoln in the Bardo; The Overstory; Cutting for Stone ; A Gentleman in Moscow ; and the great classic Moby-Dick. I also read several James Salter books: Light Years; A Sport and a Pastime; and his memoir. This year, 2021 I am behind in my reading due to the editing of my current manuscript. But I went on a Hemingway binge! I've read: The Sun Also Rises; Islands in the Stream; Across the River; and For Whom the Bell Tolls. I also read You Can't Go Home Again by the great Thomas Wolfe and that has now become one of the favorite books of all time.
Luna Saint Claire I love the process of writing. My biggest issue is getting distracted with book marketing on my existing title. I have to get in the zone and ask the inspiration gods to sit down with me. Turn off all the distractions. Everyone has a creative process that fits them. Don't try to shoe-horn other author's methods and styles. Do what works for you.
Luna Saint Claire I read literary fiction that inspires me both for story, theme and exquisite prose. And by watching films and television that move me. I am also inspired by spiritual quests and discovery.
Luna Saint Claire A linked novel to The Sleeping Serpent, that will stand-alone, and also a journey of spiritual discovery.
Luna Saint Claire Last year (2020) I read Light Years, by James Salter. It is an odd choice but the characters of Viri and Nedra are very powerful. The novel is definitely one of my favorite of all time.
Luna Saint Claire Make sure you are thorough in your research. My novel contains a wide variety of topics and locations: Buenos Aires, tango dancing, Argentine food and wine. Nico is a Kundalini Yoga guru and initiated shaman in the Q'ero tribe of Peru so there are yoga exercises, and ceremonies that required extensive research. My advice is write much more than you need in the scene and edit afterwards.
Luna Saint Claire I have to confess. After years in various creative endeavors, writing is the most creative expression I have ever experienced.
Luna Saint Claire For The Sleeping Serpent I did not suffer one day of writer's block. I know that sounds strange, but this was a story that had been inside me for a long time. So when I committed myself to the story it spilled out. I put my headphone on every day and wrote nonstop for at least 8 to 10 hours a day only taking a break to use the bathroom, eat, and go to the gym. I never thought about a sentence's construction, or the best word, or even the pagination of the scenes. I did all during the editing phase.
Luna Saint Claire Sometimes in life we lose touch with our higher self--the voice within us that always speaks the truth. Fear and insecurity take over. Luna, the protagonist of my debut novel, is feeling invisible and circumscribed by what to her feels like a conventional life. When she meets a magnetic yoga guru she falls victim to his manipulations that awaken her passions and desires. What I learned during my research for this book is that there are thousands of women, and men, that fall victim to narcissistic sociopaths. There are dozens of support groups and Facebook pages devoted to narcissistic abuse. I became fascinated and wrote a novel that is insightful into a dangerous personality disorder that many women will relate to.
