Headlines that bother me. I see all these global horrific events killing Christians and we in America seem immune because they are in places many have never heard of. It is naive to think such events won't come here. This brought the question I always start a novel with: What if? What would Christians do if attacked? Turn the other cheek? Would they become modern-day martyrs? Would they abandon their faith? Or, would they fight back?

Write! Read "Under the Covers" for a realistic look at publishing today. Very good content once you get past the first chapter.

Power. On the blank page I can write whatever I want. I can create characters and scenes and stories that come from my imagination. It's almost God-like. I control the plot and how the players perform. No other media allows that. Independence in creating at the keyboard what you want offers a certain feeling that is rare in life. Not for everyone, but it's part of what I like. The feedback from people who say they enjoyed reading my words and the impact they had has been a lifetime thrill.

I have outlined the third book on crime featuring Harry Powell. This one involves traditional religion and voodoo while addressing human trafficking. Of course there are murders involved and Harry gains a new partner in an ex-nun who helps solve the mystery while becoming a target.

I liked to tell stories (maybe it's in my Irish blood). I wrote short stories in high school and aspired to longer vehicles like novels. Eventually I also wrote non fiction, and became more proficient in telling stories to illustrate points while in business. Then I decided life was too short not to pursue your dreams of what you want to be and became a novelist.
