In 2012 I learned of the death of a girlfriend from high school and also of her life after I knew her dedicated to music thanatology at the end of life. I admire this greatly and one of her friends steered me toward books that she had studied. A few threads of stories I started when I knew her began to weave into the story of her life. Inspiration is something that happens to you whether or not you want it. I listen to lectures from The Great Courses on science and history for ideas to drive plots. I write down any little idea or idea that pops into my head. I read my own work to generate stream of consciousness associations as I rewrite it.
