Howard Frisk I like going on road trips and exploring the backroads of Washington, Idaho, and Oregon. I photograph interesting places that I find, especially ghost towns and abandoned buildings. It is interesting to think about the people that used to live and work in these places, and what life was like for them. For many of them, life was very difficult, which makes me feel grateful for how easy life is for most of us nowadays. Understanding the past helps me appreciate the present. I conducted a lot research about each location featured in my books, which is also something I like to do. For some of the locations in my books, I included historical photographs compared to present day photographs.
