Right now I'm working on my first historical romance series, which I expect to be four novels. They're all set in the 1890s in New York City -- the era often referred to as the Gilded Age (and the last decade of the Victorian era).
It was a time when a lot was changing in American society: railroads were being built and the Western US was beginning to become urbanized; immigrants flooded the country, and New York in particular. The following decades would bring women's suffrage, widespread use of automobiles and electricity, and the First World War.
I wanted to write historical romances set in the United States, and considered several different eras before becoming fascinated with the Gilded Age. I still have a lot of research (and writing!) to do, but I'm excited to introduce you to this time period, and my characters who inhabit it.
