Write anyways. Even if it's painful as hell, pump out what I can. If the narrative isn't flowing, I'll draft notes for a new scene, or I'll flip into a more exciting part of the story and work my way backwards from there.
Or if none of that really is gelling, I'll pick up a book and devour it.
Sometimes when the words run dry on the page, it's because you haven't taken the time to fill your own creative well.
So as busy as life can be, ALWAYS make time to read.

Falling in love with your characters. They truly do become real people and whenever I hit 'The End', the grief is a very real thing, too, because I'll miss them and their voices inside of me.
When I watched the film Big Fish - **spoiler** in the closing scene where the writer dies and is greeted on the riverbank by all of his characters as they usher him into the afterlife, I had a moment of envy and awe - because that's what I want more than anything. To meet all my characters and see them face to face. To have that moment with them. Maybe when my time comes, they will rise to greet me as well ;)

No such thing as aspiring. If you write, then you are a writer.
If you want to be published, that's a different question with a very different answer.
But the key/core essentials is a) write. Write constantly and without fear. b) Read. Read everything. EVERYTHING. Even if you don't like the book - finish it, if only to understand why so you can do it better.

I had a conversation with a girl friend that prompted a discussion about novels centered on female friendships. Intrigued, I started digging and rooting around, but had such a hard time finding what I was looking for aside from the obvious suspects like Travelling Pants.
But I wanted something different - Sex and the City with all the feels of Travelling Pants but featuring a very diverse, ambitions - out of the conquer the world - type young women. And so, STILETTO SISTERHOOD was born. ;)
