Hi Veronica,
The Mask of Midnight is coming out February of 2015. I will post an announcement on Goodreads, to be sure! You can always check me on Facebook (I update that often) at http://www.facebook.com/lauriestevens...
Thanks for the compliment on the books. They were just signed with Random House, Germany so we'll be terrorizing people across the Atlantic now. Happy Holidays!

Write. That is truly the best advice I can give. It's no good aspiring to be a writer. If you write, then you are one.

Well, as a crime writer you can get away with being devious and sinister by creating adversarial characters;). The main best thing is that writers are in touch with a creative mind on a daily basis. I love that about being a writer. I think it's good for folks to be able to express their creative minds -- whether by writing, doing art, etc.

Eek! I think I answered that in question 1. The third book in the series, "The Mask of Midnight."

I think any author will tell you that the muse is already in them and there is a pressing need to get a story told. Trust me, I'm not always inspired, so I will listen to certain songs that motivate me -- make me see the story and the characters more fully. Usually then I can run to the writing.

Since my books chronicle the healing progression of the main character, a detective suffering from PTSD (Post-traumatic stress disorder) I knew I had to have something to do with family, since reuniting and "trusting" in his family would be the next step in his recovery. So, I made much of that and weaved it into the mystery he is solving. Besides all that, the villain in the first book makes a reappearance. This book is due out 2014 and is called The Mask of Midnight
