Hi Wendy. Great question. I love that trope too. But as of yet, I don’t have any. You certainly have, however, given me some food for thought for an upcoming hero or two. Thank you. :)

Hi. Thank you so much for the lovely words about Ruthless King. I appreciate it so much. Honestly, I hadn't considered this idea, but I am definitely intrigued. I will have to give it some thought. I do love Nikolai! I'm focused on Alexi's book right now and then I have a few more must-do projects, but I am going to turn this over and mull as I write these others. I do like this idea a lot!!! Thank you for reaching out. xoxo.

Such a great question. Thank you for asking, Diane. I know it sounds cheesy to say, but the idea really did come to me in a dream. (I definitely didn't want to wake up that next morning, believe me!) I woke up with images of a hostile prison planet and a trapped woman floating around in my brain. (Let’s not look too deeply into my psyche on this one, ok? ☺) From those images, the story just took off and the ‘what if’s’ kept coming. What if a woman crashed on a hostile planet? What if that planet was filled with ruthless criminals? What if her only hope for survival was one of the convicts, a hardened man with a questionable past? What would she be willing to do to save herself? What would he be prepared to take? The answers ended up being action-packed and scorching hot and so much fun to write. Thank goodness for dreams!

Hi MJ. Thank you so much for your question and your kind words about Trapped. Your timing is perfect as I am running a goodreads giveaway right now. :) If you go to www.alisonaimes.com you can see exactly where and how to enter--and maybe sign up for my newsletter to hear about other upcoming goodies and giveaways. Good luck!!! Also if the goodreads giveaway doesn't work out, Trapped will be available March 1 through amazon. I'd love to hear what you think.

Truth be told, I wake up most days itching to write. Mix in a good song with my usual thinking place and I'm off, typing away. But if I'm stuck, reading other authors' fabulous stories can be a great inspiration. Finally, posing the simple question 'what if' never fails.

Sadly, this happens more then I'd like--though it's not so much writer's block as an inability to move on to the next chapter. When I need to give myself a mental nudge, my favorite trick is to shut the computer, pick up a piece of paper, and just start writing whatever scene pops into my head. Within seconds, the words, images, and emotions start pouring in. Voila!

Besides wearing your jammies to work each day? :)
I guess the serious is answer is two-parts. One of the best things is that I spend my day imagining great adventures, clever dialogues, unfathomable courage, and unwavering love all from the safety of my cozy house. The other best thing is the connection I make with readers who love my books. There is something very special about learning someone else has fallen as hard for your characters as you have.

Butt in chair. :)
Do it! Sit down and write. Find a community of like-minded folks. Sit down and write some more. Read as much as you can in your genre. Sit down and write some more. Write, write, write. Don't listen to any voices in your head that batter you with practicalities or why not. Don't worry about what others will think. Enjoy the process and learn from every stumble. The books will happen. And all you have to do is put your butt in chair and start.

Right now I'm working on TAKEN, Book 2 in the Condemned Series. It takes place in a labor camp deep within Dragath25’s core, a sweltering maze of caves overrun by brutal prisoners-turned-slaves, and answers the question of what happened to Ava, the characters who disappeared without explanation in Book 1. Full of revenge, lust, redemption, and action-packed stakes, it's proving a ton of fun to write.

Would you believe the premise came to me as part of a dream? I wish all my dreams were that...inspirational. :) I suspect a healthy dose of prison break, firefly, and a million great sci-fi and romance novels also shaped my thinking.
