I have always been a fan of pirates, whether it be Captain Hook and the Jolly Roger in their various depictions or Jack Sparrow and the Pirates of the Caribbean. I know that these fictional pirates are highly romanticized, but the stories that come along with them are extremely interesting. Plus, pirates are the original action 'heroes', with their swashbuckling sword fights and cannon battles between ships. There are so many stories that can be told that it is pretty much a treasure trove for any author.

Currently, I am working on the remainder of the Red Sky Series. Each of the books are in various stages of development (as of February 2016).

Honestly, I can be inspired to write by anything from a movie, to a song, or even a piece of art. I have an extremely creative mind, so there really is no limit to what can inspire me.

Writer's block is the most difficult obstacle in writing that I have encountered. When I feel that mental barrier, I try to take a little break from writing in an effort to think through the situation over the next day or next couple days. it could even just be for an hour, but a break always helps.

My advice for aspiring writers would be twofold. First, don't give up. Yes, it can be difficult at some points, but if you push through it, your writing will improve because of that. Second, write what you want to write. No one else should have control over your story except for you.

Personally, the best thing about being a writer is being able to create your own stories and characters and seeing how these characters' stories are going to play out. Sometimes, the stories that I have in my head get changed because the characters do something that I had not planned for. It is both liberating and a bit confusing at times, but I still love it.
