Pride & Prejudice, for two reasons. First, I am in love with Mr. Darcy. Second, I love the banter between Darcy and Elizabeth Bennett. She's feisty and she keeps everyone else on their toes. She's never far from my mind when I'm writing female characters, even when they're completely different.

I am both a full-time writer and the director of a regional writing organization, so I have to be on top of time management otherwise I don't get much writing done. Currently, I write every day for at least an hour. While I'm writing a new book, which I am in the process of doing right now, I try to write 2-4 hours a day. I don't revise until I've brute forced the first draft out so I spend a lot of time revising. Every once in a while I think I might change things up, make my process more efficient, but as it turns out, this works for me.

Despite a hundred great answers to this question, my favorite fictional couple is still Elizabeth Bennett and Mr. Darcy. I love that Elizabeth is smart, sassy, and incredibly loyal. I love that, despite the societal expectations of the time, Mr. Darcy looks past Lizzie's unconventional nature, and sees how amazing she is. And finally, I love to Mr. Darcy is so serious, but he's a big softy when it comes to the women he loves.

Wallflower Blooming was inspired by a number of my own experiences. I've always been fascinated with politics and living in a small town gave me direct experience working with the local government. In fact, for a while, I ran an online news website and we did interviews for and coverage of the local commission elections. It was interesting to take a look at the way local politics differ from the national level - and how they are very similar.
AND, I'm an incurable romantic and I binge watch Pride & Prejudice. There, I said it.

For me, every day life inspires my writing. My experiences as a woman, a mother, a person with a disability - these are all things that I draw from when I'm writing. I also really love to think about how people react to the things that happen to them. I try to put myself in other people's shoes and think about how I might feel or react. I love listening to other people's stories and thinking about how those experiences might be relatable for other people (and, of course, for me).
