Of course it is safe, it has always been as one of the most progressive democracy of the world. But as a diverse milieu of different culture and ethnicity, there is some little friction, that the world media portrays to garner viewership as negative reports usually helps.
The new president, I believe you are talking about is Donald Trump - He has no effect on day to day living in India. So don't worry, India has been safe for thousands of years for every one, and will be safe for you in years to come.
Let me know when you are coming, I would love to host you safely.. :-)
Cheers!!!

The story is there within me like an event that has happened, now the question is always about who your readers are and how they could relate to the story. So I go about writing the book with a particular person in mind, a cousin, a colleague or a student and see how I can keep his/her interest in the story and when I feel that the person is losing interest, I bring in something totally different to jolt him out of his reverie. So while writing, I am in conversation with this reader/person and go about writing / presenting the story to this particular person. When finally I have finished the story telling, I edit/edit and edit more.
I have a method of doing the structuring, I paste post it notes on my table with characters, story line and timeline and I keep juggling them to find the right structure that appeals to this imaginary/real reader and me.

Life, living and love. It is so full of inspiration that it spurs me on to write and write. But this feeling only comes when we are living in 'now', wholly aware of what is around, within and without. But most of times, we don't live in now, but in the past memories and future worries. I have cultivated the habit to live in now, you can too. This is what the Monk in the book "Songs of the Mist" teaches Ashutosh too...

Regular writing, at one particular time which is for me in the early morning, after meditation and close before I start getting ready for office.
I travel lot of places, keep a thin notebook on my back pocket, and write anything interesting that crosses my path.
I try to be immersed in 'now' and take everything in total awareness.
These give me enough material to write, when I get down to write. As I have the whole three part series in my head for decades, I keep adding material to it.
