Sanjay Srivastava asked Shashi:

how u think about the plot and structure of book?

Shashi The story is there within me like an event that has happened, now the question is always about who your readers are and how they could relate to the story. So I go about writing the book with a particular person in mind, a cousin, a colleague or a student and see how I can keep his/her interest in the story and when I feel that the person is losing interest, I bring in something totally different to jolt him out of his reverie. So while writing, I am in conversation with this reader/person and go about writing / presenting the story to this particular person. When finally I have finished the story telling, I edit/edit and edit more.
I have a method of doing the structuring, I paste post it notes on my table with characters, story line and timeline and I keep juggling them to find the right structure that appeals to this imaginary/real reader and me.
