Everyone including students experienced writer’s block at some point in their life. I have experienced this many times. Getting stuck on what to say next could be very frustrating. When I encounter writer’s block, I put my work aside and focus on doing something else. I might go to the gym, look at a movie on television, go out to eat or hold a brainstorming session with someone who could help me move towards the next step. When the next thought comes in my spirit I return to my writing mode and start writing again.

The best thing about being a writer for me is “creativity.” You are not under the dictates of another person. You are free to express yourself in your words and at the same time tell your story to the whole world. Writing for me is therapeutic and healthy. Entering your own world, helps you get in touch with your emotions, aspirations, goals, shortcomings, fears, joys, sorrows, memories, and so much more.

Everyone has a story to tell, even a child. Your story could be a fiction, memoir, inspirational, drama, action, or even a romance story. Whatever your story is, tell it. Don’t put your message on the back burner. Make it a priority. Someone needs to hear your story. Your story will inspire others in more ways than you could imagine.

Since I authored my book, “Healed from a Bent Condition” I have been working on promoting my book to the public. Being a vendor for religious and secular communities, making presentations on my book, preaching on “Healed from a Bent Condition,” conducting workshops, making video presentations for social media has been great ways to promote my book. I have been advertising my book on the radio and through author’s fairs and author’s platforms. Hosting book signing events has been a tremendous blessing. I am currently working with a marketing company to help promote my book. My goal for my book is to inspire people struggling though life with my story through "Healed from a Bent Condition.

My inspiration for writing comes from God. He inspires me through many vehicles such as a thought, an event, past experiences, visions, nature, conversations, inspirational messages, songs and hymns, family, friends, and many other ways. I have discovered when it comes to writing; it is a good thing to have a listening ear and a watchful eye. What the ear hears and the eyes see speaks volumes of thoughts, feelings, and ideas.

My idea for my recent book came into play when I was home recuperating from a slip and fall on black ice. I could not sleep at night due to pain in my body. I said to myself, my body is badly bruised, but my mind is well. I was not going to let my mind die. So, I decided to take some sermons I have written over the years and write a book of sermons with the hope of inspiring people struggling through life. To my amazement, the very first sermon I picked out turned out to be a book entitled “Healed from a Bent Condition.” God had another plan for me. I was guided to write my personal memoir.
