Tracy Borgmeyer “There is no such thing as good writing, only good rewriting.” ― Robert Graves

I have this quote posted to my inspiration board in my office - it reminds me that there is a certain type magic to getting my emotions and thoughts written, but the editing magic first needs something to work with.
Tracy Borgmeyer Science. I like to dream and write about how certain scientific principles apply to everyday life - especially growing up. For example:

How can I relate entropy to a chaotic character's world?

How can a sedimentary rock describe growing up in layers over time?

Can chemistry unlock a hidden message to save a friendship?
Tracy Borgmeyer Normally, if I have writers block I use two different methods depending on my mood.

One way is to step away from the keyboard and computer screen, grab a Bic pen and spiral notebook, and sit outside with my dog Molly. The physical pen to paper always gets words flowing organically.

The other way - which is more stressful but is effective - is setting a timer and write nonstop without editing my work. When the timer goes off I usually find a nugget of words to work with and edit.

If all else fails, I step away from the piece and give myself space for the back burner in my brain to figure where to take the story.
