Where do you get your ideas? Like what are you doing when the idea hits you? Or do you have to work out an idea? Hopefully my question makes sense.

Steven Shorter Yeah, I understand you. To answer your question, I'd say I'm usually doing something very mundane or dull - working, cooking, shopping - so that my mind begins to wander, but not so dull that I can afford to daydream. I don't want to get fired, burn dinner, or walk out of the store without paying. So instead of drifting through fantasy-land in my head, I subconsciously start to toy with ideas - tease them apart and follow individual threads. That's how stories are made.
