Hi Jess, "Himself" was quite a shift from anything that I have read before with the ghosts, the characters that you crafted really stood out. Well done I am so pleased that you are writing more books as I will be in line to get them. Will the short stories be based in Ireland as well? Ross

My second book is based in London but with Irish characters and my short stories will be set mostly in Ireland. All best, Jess

I just finished Himself and loved it, and in particular I loved the wholly unique way you write about ghosts. What were your first literary and/or cinematic encounters with ghosts?
Jess Kidd Hi Mike, thanks for getting in touch. I think I first met ghosts as a very young child through the stories my family told each other. These often featured very real, heckling sorts of ghosts, like the kind I write. But I loved ghost tales, although I rarely found them very scary. I remember particularly loving Ghostbusters, just for the complete fun of it. All best, Jess

Jess, what does a typical day look like for you? Do you write throughout the day or do you block out a specific period of time?
Jess Kidd Hi Dan,
Thank you for your question. I pretty much write whenever the mood takes me and don't really follow a strict pattern. I find that if I have a deadline coming up I will work solidly. In a way it is easier to write every day rather than take too much time off.

Are you a Catholic? If you are, what is it about Catholicism that speaks to you the most? How would you convince a non - catholic to convert?
Jess Kidd Hi Hattie,

Thank you for your question.

I was brought up in a Catholic family and as a small child I had a strong faith. I think people should find their own path in terms of religion so I wouldn't be great at convincing people to have the same beliefs as me.
