I read up on "The Grey Man" of the Cairngorms and delved into more and more history on such a remarkable place, superstitions and monsters etc.

I read up on ancient tales try and get ideas for monsters from there and then start basing characters round it.

I am writing the final trilogy of the Stevie Rump series set in the Cairngorms. It is about snow monsters. Set once again in the Victorian era, another fantasy/adventure story for 8-12 year olds .I am also Looking up old recipes Bruce the cat might make etc. I also read up on explorers of the Victorian era and weather conditions sometimes feel quite cold while I am describing it lol

Just keep writing down any snippets you never know they might come in handy for something you are doing now or later.

The more involved you get in writing, the more you start to see things around you, and wonder how you can describe them.Its nice also to meet other authors, talk about their projects. If you are having a bad writing day there is always writers groups who understand what you are going through.

I think you need to go for a walk even a short walk and then come back and start again. Sometimes you feel stale, and need the fresh air.
