Jackie Laberif I have many stories outlined for future projects. So, I can't speak to the topic of writer's block. I have not experience it. My situation is opposite, I can't seemed to find the time to bring the characters within me out onto the pages.
Jackie Laberif In fictional writing I can be a crazy person on paper, and the world accepts me! BUT if I speak or live what I write, I would be confined in an institution.
Jackie Laberif I'm working on two projects: WINTER STORM ~Trapped Souls~ is the first of a planned YA series of futuristic fictional novels where youths’ invisibility and entrapment becomes the solution to the many social and intellectual issues facing citizens of Travo and beyond. Motivated by the desire to feel her mother’s touch, Winter Storm plot to free people from the trapped utopia world and expose the crime against humanity of her mother’s former boss, Vilar Travo. Winter Storm and her family take readers on an eventful journey of suspense, drama, love, humor and sadness as she uncovers the secrets that have barred her from her mother. Upon learning that Vilar Travo built the wall that separates her from her mother's touch, Winter plots to expose and stop the most powerful man in the world.

The other project is DADDY II ~Maria's Diary~ is a psychological suspense page-flipper! The saga continues with a hermaphrodite born Mari, who parents later changed her name to Maria Santos when at age five she told them that she felt like a girl inside. Dr. Jean-Michel Santos and his wife Sofia knew that it would be difficult if members of the community saw the little boy that had dressed as a boy; now dressing as a girl. Therefore, they moved to Manchester, UK to give Maria Santos a fresh start as she begins school. Maria blossomed into a striking beautiful young lady. She had one very close friend, Sara Kingston. She shared everything with Sara, but one thing--that she was a hermaphrodite. From the outside things appeared perfect for Maria until she caught the eyes of George Webb, a young, charismatic wealthy eighteen-year-old Englishmen, and well-known soccer player. George Webb did the unspeakable and sent Maria's life into an unimaginable whirlwind resulting in her and Sara moving from Manchester UK to the United States.
Jackie Laberif In the helping profession business, we give a lot of ourselves mentally—a lot going out, therefore we must find ways to refuel from time to time. So, I’m inspired by the ‘what if’ in many life situations. Creating my ‘what ifs’ into stories has become therapeutic for me. I have many characters that live within me that over the years have been screaming to come out and it has been mentally refreshing to bring them alive on paper. So, I’m inspired by the psychology of the human mind, past experiences I have encountered, coupled with an eccentric imagination (that I have now embraced) keeps me inspired. I absorb myself in each character's psyche to become a storyteller that narrates the soul, spirit and mind of all the characters.
Jackie Laberif While in college working on my graduate and doctoral degrees, part of the course work was to develop case studies that explain treatment plans for disorders that my cohort and I had to address in textbooks and using the DSM VI (Diagnostic Statistical Manual). Developing the case studies was liked to writing short stories--creating a narrative identifying and describing the problem, then narrating solutions (treatment plans), addressing the underlying issues. While taking a human sexuality doctoral course I reviewed a chapter about Intersex (hermaphrodites). A number of years later I watched Caitlyn Jenner transition. As I watched, I reflected back on that chapter about intersex, wondering--'what if' individuals were 'born that way'--trapped in a body opposite to that of their external appearance? If that were the case, it would change the conversation on many different levels. With the topic of Intersex (hermaphrodite) being such a taboo subject in our society, I believed using the art of fictional storytelling would bring about a global conversation, bring awareness to the 3.5 million individuals with confusing gender identification in our gender based world. So my psychotherapy exposure and research gave birth to the idea of the planned trilogy, DADDY.
