Tom Fox Usually, with a question. A puzzle. Something that intrigues at me and pulls at my attention. With DOMINUS it was, 'How would people react if apparently undeniable miracles were to take place right in front of their eyes? Would it bring out the best in them, or the worst?' And from that question — and my genuine interest in seeing the way that we, as a human race, tend to be creatures with a propensity for great hope and good, as well as overwhelming evil, manipulation and deceit — emerged a plot that could bring it all to life. A strange man, ordinary in his appearance, walks into St Peter's during a papal mass and does the impossible: heals the pope. What would the response be? Hope? Anger? Fear? And as events unfold in the aftermath, all the machinations of human nature can come to light in a ferocious, fast-paced way. A plot came to life that allowed me to explore that basic question in an elaborate way — and the novel was born. Cheers for the Q! -T.
