FROM THE PUBLISHER: Tom Fox's storytelling emerges out of many years spent in academia, working on the history of the Christian Church. A respected authority on that subject, he has recently turned his attentions towards exploring the new stories that can be drawn out of its mysterious dimensions. Dominus is Tom's first novel, published together with twin novellae: Genesis and Exodus. He is a fan of the fast-paced thriller, whose books are published by Headline and Quercus.

FROM TOM: Tom pets cats, routinely spills coffee, and is mildly certain that everything in the world, including his writing this sentence, is a huge conspiracy. He has never trained a dragon, and is only occasionally mistaken for Stephen Fry when walking down the street.

Something that intrigues at me and pulls at my attention. With DOMINUS it was, 'How would people react if apparently undeniable miracles were to take place right in front of their eyes? Would it bring out the best in them, or the worst?' And from that question — and my genuine interest in seeing the way that we, as a human race, tend to be creatures with a propensity for great hope and good, as well as overwhelming evil, manipulation and deceit — emerged a plot that could bring it all to life. A strange man, ordinary in his appearance, walks into St Peter's during a papal mass and does the impossible: heals the pope. What would the response be? Hope? Anger? Fear? And as events unfold in the aftermath, all the machinations of human nature can come to light in a ferocious, fast-paced way. A plot came to life that allowed me to explore that basic question in an elaborate way — and the novel was born. Cheers for the Q! -T.(less)

Lo, America, yon book is coming...

Cover of DOMINUSWe're getting delightfully close to the US publication of Dominus (which hits shelves on 3rd May 2016), and the publishers are really dancing the pre-publication dance superbly. Lots of excitement as we get ready to bring this book — which came out in the UK, New Zealand and Australian markets in October, and for which the many international editions are going out on their own special schedules (t Read more of this blog post »
