Anything in one of Tamora Pierce's fantasy worlds, because I am enough of a crafter to want to try out the thread magic she includes in her settings.

Usually I have a random idea that ends up percolating in my head for a while before I commit it to paper, but I also have been very thankful for opportunities in my writing life, like PlayGround theater, where I get to write to prompts. Having structure and direct inspiration is a wonderful thing for me, even if (or especially when) the ideas spiral out far away from where they began.

Getting to share my make-believe worlds and my characters with other people. Even going back to playing pretend as a child, I have always wanted to bring other people into my stories.

Is it strange to admit that the seed of The Traveling Triple-C Incorporeal Circus came from a random prompt generator? I was clicking through random prompts as a writing exercise and stumbled across something about ghosts and road trips that sat in my brain for a while. I had already been mulling over a story with a mime and the two mixed together in my head to create the rough premise for Triple-C.

I am currently working on a full-length play that was commissioned by PlayGround SF and Planet Earth Arts; it is an expansion of my ten-minute play "Sh*t Farming for Fun and Profit".
The play will follow wives Jenna, an environmental scientist, and Moira, a farmer, as they navigate the tenuous place that they and their children hold their small town while still trying to create real change in the world around them. It has been a fascinating piece to work on over the last few months and I cannot wait to see it continue to grow and evolve as I sit with these characters for longer.
