Hi Fabian. I have been asked this question a lot and I'd love to get an audio version of my work out there, however, with my current commitments, I can't say when this might happen.
Keep an eye on my website or Twitter @nathanmhurst for latest news. I'll update you as soon as we get something audio underway.

Hi Mike.
I love meeting SF fans and readers, especially during conventions. I get such a buzz talking to like minded people, scientists, dreamers and artists who have an eye to the future. I'm always inspired by their enthusiasm, intrigued by their ideas. Meeting others is definitely not a distraction.
Thanks for the question.

(view spoiler)[From the Chris Wooding books, the Tales of the Ketty Jay, my favourite fictional couple have to be Captain Darian Frey and Trinica Dracken. These two spark. They have a past and it is tumultuous. One of the many great story lines to the series is around how these two emotionally scarred characters find their way back to each other. Truly brilliant. Thanks for the question Ann.
Clarion, the second in the Sol Protocol series will be available later this year. Larsen and Rivers are pursued by the Xannix on their home world while a great battle for survival is fought by Clayton and the fleet in the skies above.
If you need a top up in the meantime, I have some short stories to keep you going on my website. Check out the latest at http://nathanmhurst.com. Eli A-19: Enforcers police the asteroid mining facilities of Sol.
Have fun.

Without giving too much away, there were various ideas and themes I wanted to explore. I wanted to think about how we might journey to some of the closest newly discovered M class planets which may be able to support life. I wanted to explore how humanity might solve travelling the vast distances outside of the normal science fiction mechanism of Faster Than Light (FTL) travel. Also, I wanted to look at Artificial Intelligence and how that may impact humanity in the future. The result of which is Tusk.

I'm currently working on Clarion, the sequel to Tusk, which will expand on the dangers and encounters of the first book. Larsen, Silvers, Dawn and Clayton will return to overcome the challenges of beginning a colony on a world light years from home.

The best advice I ever received was indirectly from Neil Gaiman, or Kevin Smith, you can choose your own popular culture icon. The advice is simple. Finish it. Without a finished story, a completed novel, there’s nothing to correct, there’s nothing to improve, nothing to edit and mould into a finished work. Most importantly, there’s nothing to sell. Ultimately, as an author that is what you want. For people to buy, read and enjoy your work. So, be relentless, believe in yourself and finish your book.

The best thing about being an author is that the scope of the worlds you imagine are limitless. Being a science fiction writer means you have to apply some level of science or extrapolation of that science to your work to give a level of credibility and grounding, but other than that, your imagination is your only barrier.

Most times I'll go for a walk or generally take a break, do something else. Sometimes, I'll just write random junk. Pages of stream of consciousness rubbish which gets the imagination running again. Other times, I'll discuss with friends over a coffee (or pint). Failing all that, it could be a good time to go on holiday.

Inspiration comes from everywhere. From walking down the street to watching world events reported via various news and media channels, not forgetting books. I read a lot. Writing Sci-Fi is an extrapolation of those events or ideas. I also draw from life experience, having had many years working within computing as well as some level of flying training when I was younger, among other youthful adventures. All these things fuse together and spark to create the situations and ideas for my writing.
