I became fascinated by the most preposterous event that happened one day in the town hall of the city where I was a councillor. That lead to a quest that became an obsession driven by my desire to untangle a web of misinformation and misinterpretation. The more I uncovered the more obsessive it became and the more informed and contrary I became in the debates that followed.
One day, one of the people I contradicted suggested that I should write a book about what I had discovered and uncovered... and that is how we got to where we are today.

To write, you have to enjoy writing. It is not something you can simply decide you want to do. There also has to be something that inspires you to do it and that inspiration can never be from yourself. Something will 'click' or occur in your life and that will be the spark that will set you off on that journey.

I am working on a simple short story of my time with my beloved late wife. Partly to remember her through, and partly because we had that love that only the best Hollywood romances can remotely aspire to. It will be self-published, probably as an e-book.
There is no intent that it will be published in the hope of becoming a best seller... it is merely so I can say: "There, I've done it."... perhaps some sort of closure, and perhaps something I can refer back to should my memory of Jenn ever fade or be lost.

Do not consider yourself a failure if your idea for a book fizzles out or takes you down a blind alley... meaning you abandon the idea or simply never finish it.
No author could ever claim to have finished all that he or she has ever started out to write.

It is truly that moment when you physically hold your book in your hands for the first time. You have given birth to something that will exist (in theory) forever. You have made history.

Never force yourself to write and you will not suffer from writer's block.
Do not sit there with a blank piece of paper. Do not set aside a time to write. Set no deadlines. If your mind is compelled to write, let it write.... no matter the time of day or whatever your plans are when your mind wants to write. If that moment is inconvenient, make it convenient.... take a small notebook with you (always) so you can jot down what comes to you, or simply record what's in your head on your mobile's voice recorder.
My book took seven years to write. There were times when I would go for weeks without even looking at it, and there were times when (as I truly recorded) I worked on it for 102 hours in one seven day period.

There is no mystery, it will be about my time with my beloved Jenn... (to whom this present book is dedicated and to whom without her encouragement it would never have been finished.)
