Whitney H. Murphy It seems like every writer has his or her own definition for writer's block. For me, it's when I can't 'see' the events of the story in my mind. It feels like I'm blind--like I'm trying to describe what's happening in a movie or stage performance without being able to watch it. Difficult, to say the least! When this blindness strikes, I've learned to put down my pencil or Word document and give myself a break. Often, the vision comes back to me as I'm doing ordinary, every-day tasks. Like yard work or dishes. If it doesn't, I turn to my powerhouse: inspiring music. I let myself wear my best set of headphones, put down anything in my hands, and just listen. It's rare that music won't quickly restore my inspiration!
Whitney H. Murphy The earth! Blustery, wild summer skies, swaying treetops, sleeping mountains and sparkling lakes. The sound of wind on a hillside, or waves lapping at the shore. All these things flood my heart with dreams and visions of Claya.

Music is another powerful source of inspiration. Most recently, I find myself being rocketed into writing by genres like chillstep, indie rock, and electronica.
Whitney H. Murphy I'm currently writing the second book in the Ages of Claya series. It takes place several hundred years after the events in Anamnesis, and will follow a somewhat larger set of characters.
